The African-American vote was key to putting the Democrats in office in the US.

Motivated by the prospect of America’s first black President Barack Obama, and his campaign of hope and change, African-American voters turned out in record numbers for the 2008 presidential election.

But will the Democrats be able to count on the black vote this election? Al Jazeera’s Casey Kauffman went to Obama’s hometown of Chicago to find out.
