Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have said many things over the years. We asked participants at this year’s Democratic National Convention if they could identify the speaker based on the statement.

RANIA KHALEK: We’re at the Democratic National Convention and we’re walking around talking to delegates playing a little quiz asking them if they can identify which presidential candidate said these statements that we give them. So let’s see if they can get anything right. I’m going to give you some quotes. I want you to tell me which presidential candidate said it, Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump. Alright? “I don’t understand people who talk trash about America who act as if we’re not yet the greatest country that has ever been created”. Who said it? SPEAKER: That’s Trump. KHALEK: Hillary Clinton. SPEAKER: Trash!? KHALEK: “I don’t understand people who talk trash about America who act as if we’re not yet the greatest country that has ever been created”. Who said it? SPEAKER: That would be our fine Secretary Clinton. KHALEK: It’s a game, it’s a game. It’s a quiz. We’ve got a fun quiz for you. No? Too bad. “I’m undaungted in my quest to amuse myself by constantly changing my hair”. SPEAKER: That’s got to be Hillary Clinton because Donald Trump has never changed his hair. CONGRESSWOMAN ROSA DELUARO: I was going to say that because everybody talks about her hair. KHALEK: Her hair has changed a lot over the years. DELUARO: Well why not? Look, mine has too. I’ve got a purple steak. You know hell, I didn’t have one years ago. It’s edgy thank you. KHALEK: “This election is a choice between law, order, and safety, or chaos, crime, and violence. I will make America safe again for everyone.” SPEAKER: That’s got to be Hillary. KHALEK: No Donald Trump. SPEAKER: Oh, fuck. KHALEK: “Who’s going to find out? These women are trash. Nobody’s going to believe them”. Who said it? DAVID CORN: That’s Donald Trump. KHALEK: Hillary Clinton. CORN: Women are trash? Which women? KHALEK: 1992. CORN: Oh, I thought these were all current things. Yes, okay that makes sense. SPEAKER: There was trash in the first one there must be trash in the second. Hillary? SPEAKER: Nah, I don’t know. KHALEK: 1992. 1992. SPEAKER: I don’t remember that. KHALEK: Bill Clinton accusers. SPEAKER: Ah okay. So when I hear women trash I just think nasty, cheeky, Donald Trump saying something like that. KHALEK: “I want the Iranians to know that if I’m the president we would be able to totally obliterate them”. SPEAKER: Donald Trump. KHALEK: Hillary Clinton. SPEAKER: Okay. Hillary Clinton. KHALEK: “I want the Iranians to know that if I’m the president we would be able to totally obliterate them”. Who said it? SPEAKER: Donald Trump. KHALEK: Hillary Clinton. SPEAKER: I don’t know I guess she changes a lot so these all seem like they could go either way honestly. I mean it means that they’re politicians. KHALEK: So politicians just like to call to obliterate things on both sides of the aisle. SPEAKER: Yeah, I mean, have you been around American politics very long? KHALEK: “I want the Iranians to know that if I’m the president we would be able to totally obliterate them”. Who said that one? CORN: That was probably Donald Trump. KHALEK: Hillary Clinton. Yes. CORN: That’s a good one. Although she’s still in favor of the deal. That was her talking tough because you know to be the first female commander and chief she has to make sure people believe that she’s willing to use military force. KHALEK: Right so you’ve kind of like threaten to obliterate Iran. CORN: Threaten to obliterate Iran, yes. KHALEK: “I want the Iranians to know that if I’m the president we would be able to totally obliterate them”. SPEAKER: Donald Trump. KHALEK: Are you sure? SPEAKER: Yes. KHALEK: Hillary Clinton. SPEAKER: Said that? I’m surprised because she’s also about diplomacy as well so. But I get it, that’s a power move. I understand. She is presidential and she’s going to lead the country in a great place. So makes sense. CORN: That can happen, yeah, yeah. The Iranians have never been the most popular government around so–. KHALEK: “I advocated tying the welfare payment to certain behavior about being a good parent”. Who said it? SPEAKER: Trump. KHALEK: Hillary Clinton. SPEAKER: Now I know why I like Bernie. KHALEK: “No, I’m not into anal”. SPEAKER: Alright. I’m not into anal? Donald Trump. KHALEK: “No, I’m not into anal”. Who said that? SPEAKER: Trump? KHALEK: Why would you guys pause? Yes, Trump. But why did you pause? SPEAKER: Because of Bill Clinton. I don’t know. He just seems like he has a strong passion. KHALEK: “No, I’m not into anal”. SPEAKER: Oh jeez. No, I’m not touching that one. KHALEK: “We have to send a clear message. Just because your child gets across the border, that doesn’t mean the child gets to stay”. Who said it? SPEAKER: Trump. KHALEK: Hillary Clinton. SPEAKER: When? KHALEK: Said it two years ago when there was children coming across the border. SPEAKER: Okay. So context matters a little bit. Maybe. No I shouldn’t say that because when Trump says shit. Sorry. CORN: That could be either one. I mean. But I mean. That is not a–I would probably say Hillary Clinton because it sounds articulate. KHALEK: “We have to send a clear message. Just because your child gets across the border, that doesn’t mean the child gets to stay”. Who said it? SPEAKER: Mr. Trump. KHALEK: Hillary Clinton. SPEAKER: Tough one. Tough on. Tough one. KHALEK: Alright. You want some more? SPEAKER: He can sometimes be slightly reasonable. Slightly. KHALEK: Alright here we go. Wait, you think that was reasonable? What I just said? SPEAKER: For him. KHALEK: For Trump it would be reasonable to send children. For a democrat I guess its not reasonable? SPEAKER: No I don’t understand the question. KHALEK: Is there a context in which its okay to send children back to where they came from? SPEAKER: You’re taking a single quote right? KHALEK: Yeah, but–. SPEAKER: At times, anything could be taken out of contexts. I think that might be an incident where that was the case. KHALEK: Fair enough. Alright, let’s try another one. SPEAKER: No, no more.
