Despite Hillary Clinton’s victory in the final primary of the Democratic race, thousands of supporters of Bernie Sanders came out to hear the Vermont senator speak in Washington, D.C.

“It would be extraordinary if the people of Washington – our nation’s capital – stood up and told the world that they are ready to lead this country into a political revolution,” said Sanders.

The self-described democratic socialist met with Hillary Clinton on Tuesday night, but did not offer an endorsement of her candidacy.

Sanders is using his campaign to pressure the Democrats to adopt a party platform that addresses climate change and includes free public higher education and universal healthcare.

The Democratic candidate also criticized superdelegates, and described their role in the 2016 race as “absurd.”
