Security consultant Sunil Ram continues in part 2 of this interview with Paul Jay to discuss the planning of the Mumbai attacks. They talk about how an operation of such a scale was orchestrated and about its effects in devastating Mumbai’s security and emergency forces.
According to Ram, Pakistan’s raison d’etre has always been the war with India over Kashmir. Obama has articulated he hopes Pakistani-Indian fighting would calm so that the Pakistani military would be freed to assist the US Forces in Afghanistan. Ram says Pakistan won’t withdraw its heavy military presence in Kashmir until India does. He also says India cannot withdraw forces first because the Mumbai attacks have been linked to radical Islamist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, which originates in Kashmir.
