Tom Stephens is a life long resident of metro Detroit, and a people's lawyer in the city for almost 28 years. He is one of the coordinators of the communications working group for Detroiters Resisting Emergency Management (D-REM). His activism has included environmental justice, peace, civil and human rights, and the US Social Forum in Detroit in June 2010. Most recently he has been researching and writing on the subjects of emergency management, bankruptcy, restructuring and the potential for sustainable community in Detroit.
