Bob Peterson is a teacher, union activist, writer, and organizer. He now serves as President of the Milwaukee Teachers' Education Association (NEA). He has taught elementary school as a bilingual teacher in the Milwaukee Public Schools for 30 years. He is also a founding editor of Rethinking Schools , a quarterly journal (www.rethinkingshools.org) and has edited several books including Rethinking Mathematics: Teaching Social Justice by the Numbers ; Rethinking Globalization ; Transforming Teacher Unions: Fighting for Better Schools and Social Justice ; and Rethinking Columbus: The Next Five Hundred Years .
