Under the Shadow is an investigative narrative podcast that takes listeners to the scenes of Latin America’s most devastating, revolutionary, and historic moments—walking back in time by visiting the places where that history was made. Host Michael Fox, a longtime Latin America-based journalist, spent Season 1 traveling across Central America, tracing the long shadow of US intervention and how it still shapes the region today.

In Season 2, the shadow is no longer history—it’s the news. Fox responds in real time to the Trump administration’s onslaught in Latin America, from military strikes in the Caribbean and the invasion of Venezuela to the blockade of Cuba and Washington’s push to build a coalition of allied right-wing governments across the hemisphere. Reporting from the ground and drawing on the deep historical throughlines the series is known for, Season 2 connects what’s happening now to more than a century of US intervention—and follows the movements across the Americas fighting back.
