In a series of coordinated attacks on Easter Sunday across central Sri Lanka, in Colombo, Negombo, Batticaloa and Dehiwela, more than 350 people have been killed and more than 500 people injured.

Sunanda Deshapriya is a Sri Lankan Journalist and former Editor of Yukthiya Newspaper. He is a founding member of the Movement for Interracial Justice and Equality (MIRJE) and the Movement for the Defence of Democratic Rights (MDDR). His life as an social activist started as a Polite Bureau member of the youth insurrection of 1971 in Sri Lanka. This was also the time he first developed an interest in human rights activism and journalism. Mr. Deshapriya is a founding member of the Free Media Movement (FMM). He is also a member of the Editors Guild of Sri Lanka.
