Joshua Howe is assistant professor of history and environmental studies at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. In his new book, Behind the Curve: Science and the Politics of Global Warming , he asks why it is our global society, despite more than half a century of sustained scientific study, has failed to affect meaningful policies to combat climate change. Dr. Howe received his Ph.D. in history from Stanford University in 2010, and before his appointment at Reed he worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the history of science at Montana State University.
