Roberto Savio is a journalist, communication expert, political commentator, activist for social and climate justice, and advocate of global governance. In 1964 he founded Inter Press Service (IPS), of which he was Director General for many years. Currently he is President Emeritus of IPS and Chairman of the IPS Board of Trustees. He is founder of Other News, launched in 2008, in order to provide information on global issues to a group of international civil servants, academicians and social activists.

Robert Savio served as Senior Adviser for Strategies and Communication to the Director General of the International Labor Organization (ILO). He also served as an internal communication consultant to Catherine Bertini, Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP). He is Deputy Director of the Scientific Council of the New Policy Forum (formerly the World Policy Forum). Mr. Savio also heads International relations at the European Centre for Peace and Development.
