Palestinian protesters honored Razan al-Najjar, the 21 year-old medic who the Israeli military murdered during last week’s protests, as she was giving first aid to the wounded along the Gaza border
NOOR HARAZEEN: On Friday, four Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces, and more than 600 were injured, as thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip gathered along the Gaza-Israel border for the 11th week in a row to honor the victims who fell by Israeli fire since the Great March of Return against Israel began on March 30.
HUSSAM SHURRAB: I got injured weeks ago. At the beginning of the protests shortly after Donald Trump’s shameful acts, we came here today to honor the martyrs and our friend Razan al-Najjar, who used to take care of us wounded. We will continue to protest.
NOOR HARAZEEN: The mother of slain Palestinian medic Razan al-Najjar joined the protest. Sabreen al-Najjar was wearing her daughter’s blood-stained medic’s vest marked with the logo of the Palestinian Medical Relief Society.
SABREEN AL-NAJJAR: My presence here is to complete Razan’s path. We will continue her message. We support the Great Return March until we get our freedom and all of our rights. Today we all represent Razan.
NOOR HARAZEEN: Razan al-Najjar was a Palestinian nurse volunteering in the Gaza health ministry. She was killed by a live bullet in the chest last Friday as she tried to help evacuate wounded near Israel’s border fence with Gaza. The killing of Razan sparked outrage at the Israeli army’s targeting of medical staff.
