Valerie Williams came to The Real News with some 30 years’ experience in non-profit management and development. For the previous eight years she was Executive Director of the Center for Emerging Media, a non-profit media production company, where she also served as managing producer on a 2006 documentary series about the Viet Nam War called Shared Weight and as project manager for a weekly series on the food system called Sound Bites. Her other experience included working at Miami’s Haitian Refugee Center and in Baltimore at the Public Justice Center, the Baltimore Station (an addiction recovery program), and the Institute for Christian and Jewish Studies. Valerie’s educational background is in experimental psychology and in 2011 she completed a graduate certificate program in Ecotherapy. She loves gardening, reading, and walking through country roads.
