Hilary Abell is co-founder of Project Equity, which builds economic resiliency in low-income communities by increasing worker ownership. She has worked in nonprofits and cooperatives for more than twenty years, advancing co-op development, fair trade, and community empowerment. Since 2003, Hilary has led and consulted with some of the country’s leading coop developers, including WAGES (Women’s Action to Gain Economic Security) and the Evergreen Cooperative Initiative, and she authored a white paper, Worker Cooperatives: Pathways to Scale, which was published in 2014 by The Democracy Collaborative. Hilary is pursuing her MBA in Sustainable Management at Presidio Graduate School while launching Project Equity with co-founder Alison Lingane. Hilary and Alison were recently selected as 2014 Echoing Green Fellows.
