Nerissa Balce, associate professor in the Department of Asian and Asian American Studies at the State University of New York or SUNY at Stony Brook. Dr. Balce is the author of the book, Body Parts of Empire: Visual Abjection, Filipino Images and the American Archive, a book about the image of the Filipino native at the turn of the 20th century. She teaches courses on race and popular culture at SUNY Stony Brook. She is currently at work on a book on Philippine popular culture during the Marcos regime.
