Jaisal Noor: A gunman killed at least 50 people and wounded more than 200 at a country music festival on the Las Vegas Strip on Sunday, October 1st, raining down automatic gun fire from the 32nd floor of a hotel for several minutes before he was found dead by police. And in breaking news, the FBI has refuted the Islamic state's attempt to claim responsibility for the attack. The death count, which police emphasized was preliminary and tentative, would make the attack the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history. The clip seeing last year's massacre of 49 people at an Orlando nightclub. Thousands of panicked people fled the scene, in some cases, trampling one another as law enforcement officers scrambled to locate and kill the gunman. Shocked concert goers, some with blood on their clothes, wandered the streets after the attack.

Eyewitness 1: We were hiding because there was like shots going everywhere, and there were just dead people everywhere. It was horrible.

Eyewitness 2: When we got, when we were there, Jason Aldean was performing. He was like 10 minutes in and we heard what we thought were fireworks and it looked smoke from Mandalay Bay, and then he kept performing, and then we heard it again, and they cut the music. And everyone said, "Drop," and everyone dropped. And then everyone just got up and they said, "Run," and everyone started stampeding and charging.

Eyewitness 3: I got my wife up. As I got her up, two guys came running by that were carrying a girl or somebody that was all bloody and it looked they had been shot.

Jaisal Noor: Police identified the gunman as area resident Stephen Paddock, 64, and said they had no information yet about his motive. He was not believed to be connected with any militant group. Clark County Sheriff, Joseph Lombardo told reporters, "The dead included one off-duty police officer and another officer was critically injured." Police emphasized the death toll may rise. Paddock is white and has been called a "Lone Wolf" by authorities. Many note this contrasts sharply to official responses by Muslims or people of color. On Monday, Trump addressed the shooting. Calling it a "Pure act of evil."

Donald Trump: Last night, a gunman opened fire on a large crowd at a country music concert in Las Vegas, Nevada. He brutally murdered more than 50 people and wounded hundreds more. It was an act of pure evil.

Jaisal Noor: But he did not address gun control. Nevada has some of the most lax gun laws in the nation. Automatic weapons are legal there and it's an open-carry state. Trump has been an ardent supporter of the NRA which opposes regulating firearms.
