The US has formally handed over control of Parwan prison at Bagram military base to Afghan security forces.
The move is part of a deal to transfer all prisons to Afghan oversight before the withdrawal of NATO forces at the end of 2014.
Parwan prison has been at the centre of a number of controversies, from allegations of prisoner abuse, torture and Quran burning at the base.
Al Jazeera's Bernard Smith, on the scene at Bagram, has more details.
