A voice recording of the ousted Libyan leader has been broadcast on a Syrian TV channel. In it, Gaddafi denies he has fled to neighbouring Niger. He urges his stronghold of Bani Walid to stay strong, and resist the anti-Gaddafi advance. His comments come as fighters close in on the tribal bastion, 170 kilometres south of Tripoli. Bani Walid has been given a deadline of September 10 to lay down its arms and surrender.
