Nuke submarine INS Arihant launched
>

Sudhi Ranjan Sen, Sunday July 26, 2009, New Delhi

India on Sunday joined the select club of countries having nuclear submarines. So far only US, Russia, China, France and Britain have nuclear submarines.

India's own, INS Arihant, the first nuclear-powered submarine made its first dive on Sunday. A nuclear submarine is one of the most potent weapons.

This is India's first step towards acquiring second-strike capability, that is, the ability to retaliate in case of a nuclear attack. But this is just step one, it has three more crucial steps to go - harbour and deep sea trial - when its systems are tested and finally a weapons trail. Even then military superpower status with an ability to fire nuclear weapons from the deep sea undetected may evade India.

"If you specifically look at the triad, the second strike capability, it is dependent on the range of the submarine launched. Ballestic missile can reach all parts of the enemy. In our case, without having to go to the surface through the Mallaca strait or Singapore strait," said Vice Admiral A K Singh (Retd), Former Captain, INS Chakra.

It will take another two to three years before Arihant is deployed by the navy. And at least another seven years before India is able to build its second nuclear submarine. Arihant's design and capabilities may need fine tuning, which poses many new challenges for the navy.

JMo87.That is precisely the question which is being worked on by the globalists via compliant `intellectuals`.Bilderberg attendee Niall Ferguson (Harvard) has made the case for a unipolar world in his book `Colussus` aimed at the finacial community.Russia has been proposing a multi-polar world for some time but they are constantly ignored and smeared as are proposals for a fair multi currency and commodity indexed global currency in place of US controlled SDRs.The anglo/american/ agenda is clear:world domination with or without nuclear war.

C Span has the criminal clinton address to the CFR- in her Q & A she nearly gave away US naval involvement linkage with her Indian talks.(One wonders about Trinco as natural harbour.)Having secured fighter plane deals its only a question of time before the empire undercuts traditional russian heavy metal naval supply trade.Expect more fanning of flames of discord with Pak and its ally China and the use of India to play the Tibet destabilisation card. With the constant threat against Iran, another traditional Indian trading partner, the prospect of Iranian gas supply to Northern India fades to be replaced by US controlled caspian gas once Afghanistan is subdued and Russia is further isolated. The prospect for nuclear war has been notched up again. What would Mahatma have done?

I guess it has long been no secret that nations like India and China are rapidly becoming "world powers" by all measurements of the term. I fear this proliferation of nuclear weapon systems, but I also wonder if a multi-polar war would be more strategically balanced and thus prone to peace ... ?

How sad that the nation which has given the world four religions and has been the source of profound philosophical insight should be sucked into the vile game being played out by america. As a new imperial client state India has abandoned her farmers and agricultural heritage to US agrobusiness and now is to be groomed for US v. China war to conrol the energy/trade routes to China. There will be a new destabilisation `safron` revolution in Burma next year which empower Chines support for the opressive regime there.Lets see what corporate liabilities are excluded by the N contracts as a test of Indian parliamentary resolve.

Whilst I agree that hungry children would be on the top of the list of things to do if I were ruling India, it would be laughable if I were not to strongly consider Chinas military and the future safety of the Indian boarder. It seems quite logical what they are proposing, and accomplishing with regards to their navy. On the other hand, it fills my mind with worry regarding the potential clash of those two very large titans.

Those nuclear sophists should remember the following:: India is home to the greatest population of severely malnourished children in the world. Four hundred million children suffer daily, which is a greater problem than in Sub-Saharan Africa. Childhood malnutrition is a massive crisis caused by a combination of factors including inadequate or inappropriate food intake, childhood diseases, harmful childcare practices, and improper care during illness: all contributing to poor health and millions of deaths annually. It’s laughable that India will try to project nuclear deterrence considering these circumstances.
