ANP: Senator Lindsey Graham was a passionate critic of the Bush Justice attorneys during this past summer's Armed Services Committee hearings on interrogation. Lately, however, Graham seems to have had second thoughts on the matter. At a recent Judiciary subcommittee hearing investigating the torture memos, Graham mounted a feisty defense of Jay Bybee, John Yoo and the lawyers who provided legal cover for detainee abuse. This performance sent ANP producer Mike Fritz back to the ANP archives to confirm that this was indeed the same Lindsey Graham we remembered from the summer, and sure enough, it was. As this video reveals, same tie - different message.

Now stepping into this mans shoes what is it that took place for him to pull a complete 180 regarding his stance. a.Money b.Fear for his loved ones. Those are the only two I can think of that would actually make a difference at this level of government.

There's so much of this I said-I said stuff -- that is, politicians completely contradicting their own words over the course of time where the only evident change of input is political expedience as opposed to, say, genuine internal policy reconsideration... I would love to see a website indexed by, say, politician, of their own on-record words in contradiction; just like this sets up. What a resource that would be! It happens in drips and drabs, a Nation article here, a video clip there -- I'd love it if some enterprising web-savvy truth-digger would set out to record these sorts of flagrant inconsistent statements. Set them up and down for all time. Please!! Thanks for this BTW. Course, further evidence that Lindsy Graham is soul-less is not really needed but as I say, hard, collected batched-together demonstrations like this are invaluable. Thank you.

Wow. Such overt hypocrisy. Great work bringing this up. I still hope this discussion will actually lead to something, either in Spain or in the US.
