In this "Road to Ruin" report, former subprime lenders from Ameriquest, once the country's largest lender, describe a system rife with fraud. They describe how a "by-any-means-necessary" policy pushed employees to cut corners and falsify documents on bad mortgages and then sell the toxic assets to Wall Street banks eager to make fast profits.

Smith’s opinion and you might be able to buy a cup of coffee.
If you people think this nation has turned a corner...then your seriously mistaken. What we have now is Bush lite, and it’s fragile, precarious and unsustainable. The only way the Big Ten Tire and other folks will join up will be to stop bull-shitting and put something in their pockets and on their plates that is real and righteous. | degaul 2009-05-16
Well Smith, forgive me for using your great grammar only drinking fountain.
To all who decided to have a conversation and with Smith’s approach in mind.
While everyone is talking about how everyone talks or writes you have guys at big ten tires and else where making eight bucks an hour voting for republican, because they love Geeeezus, believe a women’s right to choose is of the devil and god only loves republicans. They also believe that intellectuals are evil, want to rape their children and take away their gunz.
So, until you can solve that problem; my fellow Americans with a 4th grade education (as I obviously have) will continue to put fascist in power, because they don’t know any better. Yeah I know Smith, their all lazy just like me. Instead of putting that sixty hours in a week to take care of their families they should go to Harvard so they can impress people like you. Well Smith I bet they would realize a glaring truth real quick, and that truth is put a buck with S | AJ Smith 2009-05-15

You have no basis to opine on whether I have "no rebuttal to degaul's point", since I haven't said yea or nay on it. That's YOUR invention. I may agree, or I may not agree, but you don't know that. Thus, I'd say you're disqualified from your high school debate team for making unfounded assumptions.
I like to deal with facts and accuracy. I give less credence to anyone who has not put in the effort to know their own language well before they enter a discussion. If one is unsure how to phrase or spell something, then one should learn how or not use it. A "typo" is one thing, but bad grammar to me shows ignorance, sloppiness, or intellectual laziness.
Thanks for playing. | PatM 2009-05-14
degaul: Its not too late until the statute of limitations is past (if one applies). Given the corporate control over US media and government and the active participation of many politicians I don't see this administration hurrying to prosecute before the statutes of limitations run out. | PatM 2009-05-14
I disagree with degaul as well but AJ Smith is way out of line. A high school debate team would throw him out. Obviously AJ has no rebuttal to degaul's point so instead resorts to ad hominem attacks i.e. degaul doesn't spell perfectly and his grammar is lacking therefore his point/opinion is wrong. Sorry AJ but you're disqualified for rules infractions. | AJ Smith 2009-05-13
degaul,
You're asking me to debate a topic such as this with someone who possesses the grammatical acuity perhaps of a 4th grader?
I wouldn't waste my time. | Dr. Wayne 2009-05-13
'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.'
Thomas Jefferson 1802

Ummm, Smith's comment more than hints at the piercing irony of your argument, General degaul. I.E. If the Elite use the "unwashed masses" (their wording) to push forward their sustained fiscal agendas, then it must be up to the fully educated and lucidly thinking amongst us to initially mobilize instead. Valuable tools like The Real News Network help said contingency immensely, assuming they have access to TRNN. Said masses can then be convinced to follow our lead against said tyranny. So please save the pessimism and forward TRNN's links to friends and family. | degaul 2009-05-13
Hey Smith, thanks for the grammar lesson. I'll bet the kids in your neighborhood love it when you address their skinned knees with a spelling bee. Now, if you have no other problems with my opinion how about addressing the substance you bozo. | AJ Smith 2009-05-13
Learn how to spell the words you choose to use. It's "INDICT" not "indite", and you say "TOO late" not "to late".
Duh. | degaul 2009-05-13
Okay, great reporting. So what? Will anybody go to jail? Will Obama prosecute? Will the news media take notice and follow up? Will the attorney general indite? Will assets of these criminals be confiscated to pay off the losses from this crime? The answer to all of these questions is NO. Your network claims if you had a few bucks you could make a difference. I hate to break it to you fine folks, but no you can't and they will never let you. The time is long past when Mr. Smith can go to Washington. I like your reporting, but it's to late. |
