Brian Knappenberger: Nobody Speak

The documentary filmmaker discusses his latest film about the end of Gawker and the billionaire who helped bring it down.


Robert Scheer is the editor-in-chief of Truthdig. He's also a professor at the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, and host of the KCRW podcast Scheer Intelligence. For decades, Bob was the national correspondent, and then columnist, for the Los Angeles Times. He's the author of many books, including The Great American Stickup, The Pornography of Power, and most recently They Know Everything About You: How Data-Collecting Corporations and Snooping Government Agencies Are Destroying Democracy.

Brian Knappenberger's documentaries include The Internet's Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz and We Are Legion: The Story of Hacktivists. His latest film Nobody Speak: Hulk Hogan, Gawker, and the Trial of a Free Press delves into the trial of the former wrestler versus the website. Paypal billionaire and Donald Trump advisor Peter Thiel largely financed the case against Gawker, which eventually had to shut down.
