ANP: Two leading architects of Bush admn.'s policies on torture give evasive answers to simple questions
American News Project: D.C. SNAPSHOT - On June 26, 2008, John Yoo and David Addington, two leading architects of the Bush administration's policies on torture, testified before the House Judiciary Committee. Even seemingly simple questions yielded evasive answers.
Bush/Cheney and Blair/Brown should be done for war crimes. We don't tolerate other government leaders to torture their people, so what gives us the right to go in and torture?
I feel for soldiers, who are given orders to torture children and prisoners. Any of them with an ounce of humanity would be disgusted to do it, and be fearful if they didn't carry it out on the order of the President, or Premier.
Bush,Cheney,Blair, and Brown need to go before the Hague. What I have seen on the internet being done by our governments on order from our leaders is diabolical.

Did these Democratic Chairmen actually got a chance to read the document in question?
Let's go to war on executive privilege...why not?
Oops, did we do that already...are we doing that right now?
So what. Busch, has nice girls, married to nice boys, Cheney has a lesbian...she won't procreate anytime soon...we on the other hand have to send our children to war...on executive privilege of course.

The USA has dug its own grave now with Iraq, Gitmo and extraordinary rendition. These committal hearings will show one thing very clearly to the World; the USA has lost all moral high ground and any respect remaining will be obliterated without criminal and treason convictions for those involved.
Modern terrorism is not so much committed against the west as caused by the west with USA and it's hegemony of corporations leading the way like General Custer at Little bighorn.
One can almost, almost feel no sympathy for a country lurching into a depression, sliding into civil unrest and suffering from a barrage of natural disasters caused, as we are told to believe, by industrial excesses. USA the worst offender.

John Yoo cannot unconditionally state that it is illegal for an American president to order crushing the testicles of a child.
The quote is here http://youtube.com/watch?v=hz01hN9l-BM
John Yoo should be sitting in a jail cell!

The Bush administration is shameless!

(to continue) ...and make the rest of us violent and frustrated in thought!
When is the House Judiciary Committee going to develop real teeth and balls and bluff them out mercilessly? When are you going to IMPEACH and later prosecute for WAR CRIMES all the upper echelons of the Republican and Democratic Parties?!?
kaijansen78 2008-06-29
Addington is quite obviously a cold-hearted swine. He worked out his answer beforehand and laid it on them by actually and completely diverting the question. He looked, sounded and acted like a machine and should really and without conscience, be dismantled and sent somewhere unrelated to human existence. He was also allowed to get away with it! WHY? It's relatively easy to pin someone down to a clear emphatic answer if you raise your blood temperature and realise that this is SURVIVAL folks! This should not be some bloody stupid parlour-game!!
Yoo on the other hand, was almost likable for having the vague vestiges of a conscience left, though he needs a serious lesson in the art of listening... and then shoot him along with Addington, Cheney, Bush, Rove, Wolfowitz, Rockefeller, Kissinger, Gore, Pelosi, etc., etc., etc... and all those who speak with forked tongue! Sorry, but vermin like this are an unspeakable affront to human nature and make the rest of us violent and frustrated in

Yoo and Addington are lawyers, and as such know how to do what they do as well as any other lawyer. They were playing Beat the Clock and it disgusts me that these 2, in addition to the entire Executive Branch are being permitted to literally get away with GD Torture! Children, live burials and they need to understand how the qustion related to whatever in 2002 as opposed to 2007/8, WTF??? Yes, Yoo and Addington in 5 years theses charges have been exempted and then returned to a Code of Ethics, the Constitution, Geneva Convention, U.N. Charter and general all around behaving as a Humane Human WOULD, MF'ers! This indeed is quite sickening and needs to be emailed to EVERYONE you know. I intend to ask Congressman Conyers what is happening when I meet with him in a week.
In so far as Contempt of Congress Charges that is applicable only when refusing to answer a subpoena and refusal in answering, ergo 5th is okay and tapdancing and acting arrogant, Addington, stupid, Yoo is quite fine too.

Hey guys, here's a way to get them to wipe the smug looks off of their faces and answer the friggin' questions.
WATERBOARD THE BASTARDS!
Asperin 2008-06-29
They should not have been allow to get out of that room until answering the question.
It's not a fascist procedure to do that to them, because they CAN answer the question. It's not "hard" or it takes any knowledge other than the laws they help create themselves.
This video got me angry, angrier than I was before.
These people have no limits.

In spite of the evasiveness (love to see lawyers going after each other), I now suspect that our government has tortured children and buried people alive. That's the problem with opening the lid on torture. Where does it stop? Who are the good guys now?
president 2008-06-29
It is absolutely ridicules the way they refuse simple questions. It's almost like a comedy show. I cannot believe they can get away from answering questions like this.
DrNova 2008-06-29
Why aren't Yoo and Addington held in Contempt of Congress? Their refusal to answer simple questions with "Yes/No" is blatant contempt of the Second Branch and the Constitution.
