Jaron...your obvious denial that Pepe's analysis is nothing but rhetorical tripe and that Pepe's rhetorical declaration of McCain based on the rhetoric of a paleoconservative hack like Buchanan shows us all that you and Pepe have about as much depth of reasoning as did the Bush administration in the beginning of the Iraq situation. Neither you, Pepe, nor Buchanan have presented throughly researched anaylsis beyond the typical skimming of the scum approach of an extremist from the left or the right of the political spectrum.

RealPirate: I think you're missing the point. The point of the commentary wasn't that fascism started in Europe but that McCain is a really crazy guy and wants America in a century of wars and bring in the draft that they cover up as "fighting terrorism to protect America". The same people that wanted to go to Iraq and Afghanistan are now wanting to get into Iran. Why is that? How is that going to happen? If all these unneeded , undeclared wars happen then people wont be working anymore. We'll be fighting to serve and protect the interests of those crazy elites.

(Continued from last post below)....in Algeria during the 1990’s by Muslim Fundamentalist with their extreme fascist, authoritarian creed. So please, enough with the rhetorical posturing, do some REAL research to substantiate your REAL analysis for The REAL News for REAL thinking readers that find your analysis losing its luster.

Pepe, here is more to chew on, since you cannot do the simplest of research on your rhetorical analysis. Your declaration that “Islamo-fascism” is “rubbish”, that fascism was invented in Europe and that it has nothing to do with Islam, proves once again that you have become a political “hack” in the Buchanan tradition. The word fascism derives from the word “fascismo”, coined by Benito Mussolini and Giovanni Gentile as a label for the authoritarian political ideology that swept Italy and many countries during the 1930’s and 1940’s in Europe. The fascist label is just that…a label!! The authoritarianism is the same, whether it belongs to Islamist, Fascist, Nazi, Stalinist, Communist or El Caballo’s political ideology. As for Islamo-fascism, you might look for the origins of the term in Algeria during the Muslim’s democratic struggle against Islamic fundamentalist. Islamo-fascism was a term coined by these Muslims, Muslims that were slaughtered to the count of 150,000 in Algeria during

Pepe...as much as I respect you view point on many issue around the world. Your attempt to seize on a sound bit from a noted right-wing, paleoconservative, talking head wacko like Pat Buchanan is sad to say the least and a lazy analysis on your part. Buchanan's profession as a talking head has bound him to rhetorical bombastic and caustic comments to fit the prevailing grandstanding of the moment, much the same way that you present yourself from the leftist point of view at times. And to pull a rabbit out of the hat like "less jobs, more war" as an analysis based on a Buchanan sound bit is sophomoric on your part and the Real News, which puts Real News on par with Fox News at the other extreme, an extreme of uselessness and irrelevancy! I enjoy many of your articles, but you miss the boat on this analysis.

PEPE ESCOBAR, THE REAL NEWS ANALYST: What the whole world wants to know is who is going to be advising these pre-candidates, or then the two candidates, or then the next president of the US in terms of foreign policy. Is US foreign policy going to change in 2009? Well, on the Republican side, it's very easy to see what's going to happen. Let's start with a proposed budget for 2009, proposed by President Bush for the Pentagon: $515 billion. That's four percent of the whole American economy. If we add, like, something like $150 billion extra, which the next president may ask Congress to improve, we're going to have more than the whole GNP of Australia. So this is what the Pentagon wants, and this is what the industrial military establishment complex wants. For them, McCain is their guy. Maybe one piece of information is enough to tell everybody what's going to happen. Pat Buchanan, who knows one or two things about the American establishment, has said on the record on a talk show:

(CLIP BEGINS)

PAT BUCHANAN: If McCain wins, McCain wins, he will make Cheney look like Gandhi.

(CLIP ENDS)

This means what? This means a John “a century of war” McCain, he said that he still believes, in fact, that Iraq is the central front in the war on terror, which proves that in his visits to Iraq he's never learned anything on the ground. He also sang on the record:

(CLIP BEGINS)

MAN: Why don't we send them an airmail message to Tehran?

JOHN MCCAIN, US SENATOR: That old Beach Boys song, “Bomb Iran”? ♫ Bomb bomb bomb—. ♫ Anyway.

(CLIP ENDS)

Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, who composed “Barbara Ann,” obviously was not amused, so he's going to confront leaders all over. He's going after them. So we're going to have Bush III, actually, which obviously suits the industrial military complex. If the US votes for John McCain, they're going to get the ultimate neocon, and the rest of the world is going to be saddled with it as well. McCain is being supported by all major neocons, everyone from Norman Podhoretz, who advocates that we're already at World War IV, and he keeps on talking about Islamo-fascism all the time. Total rubbish, because fascism was invented in Europe, for that matter, has nothing to do with Islam. And William Kristol, one of the founders for the Project for the New American Century, who advocated that US needed a new Pearl Harbor to reestablish US world domination, and every neocon in between, of course. George Bush already said that McCain is a good conservative, which for many people is the kiss of death, but for many neocons it's a very worthy endorsement. So if we're going to have McCain, it's good for the Pentagon, it's good for the military-industrial establishment. But Americans in the world must be warned: it's going to be less jobs, more war.
