| Glenn Beck: How Iran's Government works - with diagrams | |
| The protesters in Iran are dying in the streets over their inability to pick a President who was chosen by their Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, does that make any sense? I would say yes, because they have to start somewhere. If they are willing to die to gain such a small morsel of freedom, then should not the American people support such bravery? And more importantly, should not the President of the United States openly support such bravery? Obama's silence is deafening, especially to those who are dying in the streets of Tehran. | Germanys Merkel Demands Iranian Election Recount | |
| German Chancellor Angela Merkel is demanding a recount of Irans recent election. Merkel becomes the first leader of a major Western power to publicly demand a recount. German Chancellor Angela Merkel is urging the Iranian leadership to allow peaceful protests and recount votes cast in its disputed election. [Angela Merkel, German Chancellor]: (female, German) Germany stands behind the people and peaceful demonstrators in Iran who want to make use of their freedom of speech and who want to gather peacefully. Merkel called on Irans leaders to stop using violence against demonstrators, release detained opposition members, and allow free media reporting. Merkel also said Iran could earn trust from the international community by inviting observers to oversee a vote recount. [Angela Merkel, German Chancellor]: (female, German) I believe doubts could easily be eliminated by repeating the vote recounting to make it transparent, if necessary with international observers. Trust could then be restored. The German Chancellor is the first leader of a major Western power to publicly demand a recount. | |
