But 56,000 American troops remain, most of whom will stay in Iraq until the end of next year, in what the Obama administration says is a military, training and advisory role. The US has spent at least $700 billion on the Iraq war. But that is not counting future interest payments and long-term care for wounded soldiers. There are now also concerns that funds for the reconstruction of Iraq are being misspent. Tom Ackerman has more. | |
