| Lizz Winstead, Creator of The Daily Show: Election 2010 -it just keeps getting weirder | |
| From: lauraflanders | 05 October 2010 Election 2010: it just keeps getting weirder. Now that the primaries are mostly over, a motley crew of Tea Partiers and abstinenceaholics are taking aim at Congress, and some of what they have to say is hilarious--or would be, if these weren\\\'t the nominees of one of the two major parties in the U.S., and the other party hadn\\\'t managed to alienate a good chunk of its base. Lizz Winstead joins guest host John Fugelsang to look--and laugh--at Jim DeMint, Christine O\\\'Donnell, Meg Whitman, and more as we get closer and closer to voting time. | |

| GRITtv: Vince Warren: Big Government But Failure to Restore Rule of Law Under Obama | |
| lauraflanders | 12 October 2010 Ahmed Ghailani, the Guantanamo prisoner accused of taking part in the 1998 bombings of the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania goes the courts in NY this week but is being denied a fair trial as federal prosecutors recently rejected appealing a ruling by a trial judge that prohibits a key witness from testifying. Meanwhile Dick Cheney is back to warn us against new nuclear terrorist attacks, that presumably only an expanded state security and defense apparatus can save us from. If the the FBI raids on peace activists last month are any indication, we\\\\\\\'re already well on our way. But what does America think of government powers under Obama? We\\\\\\\'ll look at a new poll from USA Today. GRITtv contributor Vince Warren of the Center for Constitutional Rights is here. | |

| Danny Schechter: Foreclosure Fraud and Bank Bailouts -Property rights trumps human rights | |
| lauraflanders | 07 October 2010 The controversy over home foreclosures is spreading--today, the White House blog and twitter announced that President Obama would not sign a bill that could have an impact on foreclosure documents because of the ongoing problems. In a nutshell, huge numbers of Americans have found themselves foreclosed on by banks that had faulty or incomplete documents. Three major firms have actually declared freezes on foreclosures, and Congress is calling for an investigation. But what does all this mean for most of us? Danny Schechter joins Laura in studio to explain the situation, why it\\\\\\\'s more complicated than a few mortgages, and why it could lead to another major banking crisis. He also weighs in on the privatization of fire departments, and notes that in the U.S., Property rights trumps human rights. | |
