US Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's bowed to pressure and released some of his tax returns. Romney paid $1.9m in taxes on more than $13m in income in 2011, an effective tax rate of 14.1 per cent, his campaign has said. The Republican party hopes the move will ease the controversy surrounding his finances and help get his White House campaign back on track. But as Al Jazeera's Alan Fisher reports, that seems unlikely.
