Why Capitalism? how will that system deal with the rampant inequality which has, for 25 years now, been creating the situation in which we now find ourselves? Consumerism and greed are not good; and both are fostered and impelled by Capitalism. There has to be another way. | lbeyman 2009-01-23
It seems to me that spending money for its own sake is nonsensical and we are in the capitalist consumer trap. I would like to recommend Michael Parenti as presenting a good contrasting view to Galbraith. Further there are some economists associated with ZMag who have an interesting perspective. |
