Nixon slept with the devil and it cost him his dignity and reputation. Kissinger was/is satan incarnate, and most likely spearheaded the inevitable *removal* of Nixon from office through the Watergate ruse. Nixon ultimately woke up and disagreed with the course these 'advisors' were taking the country down, only to have his independence cost him the presidency. | ultra1bob 2008-12-20
This is old news. In fact, Kissinger tells in one of his books that that he was the one relaying the info that the Vietnamese should wait till Nixon was president. What's news to me is that LBJ knew about it! The belief was that Humphrey would have won the presidency if LBJ had ended the war. | Jeff Tundis 2008-12-20
I was waiting and waiting for him to mention what Reagan did to undermine Carter's efforts to get the hostages out of Iran in 1980 - and finally, it comes up right at the end. You're absolutely right, Dodo, many of the same power brokers are still in place, and that is the main reason stuff like this gets ignored. | Dodo Bird 2008-12-20
How convenient that "the people around him" shows a photo of Nixon with Henry Kissinger. Which more or less sums up this situation. Before Christopher Higgins became partial to the Bush Jr. team, he used to be a vocal journalist trying to expose many of the "questionable" acts that Henry Kissinger was behind (see: The Trial(s) of Henry Kissinger). Not to say that he was alone in acting - the same team behind Bush Jr. now has been in place since Nixon: Cheney, Rumsfeld, Kissinger, Bush Sr... This is old news to anyone in the loop - though you seem to mention that at the end too. (And I've heard as high as 3 million Vietnamese died in the last 5 yrs.) Good point though about it never getting the attention it deserves. |
