Also a quick note: it's become a trendy way to vent frustration to show hostility, disgust or condescention to the 'backwards, ignorant rural whites'. Such stereotyped mockery and anger only pulls those people further toward supposedly conservative republicans and platforms that don't actually benefit them. When people are made defensive by being called ignorant or stupid, they are more likely to cling harder than ever to their beliefs. Scapegoating these people won't help. Rude and stereotyped caricatures won't help either.

McCain/Palin are exploiting identity politics, and the correct perception that traditional rural America is being threatened. People opposed to McCain/Palin will put themselves in opposition to these supposedly backwards, rural, bigoted, religous, ignorant whites. Both sides of the fence need to introspect and see how they themselves are manipulated and put in ridiculous opposition to eachother. My advice is to watch independent news, read about the elite backing of both parties, and to disengage one's self from the manipulation and 'divide and conquer' of partisan politics. Scapegoating always works to mobilize resentment. It never fails. Planning and preparing for the misbehavior that always results from this mobilization is something that is almost never done, and that is the sad and tragic part of America. Everyone wants bigotry to go away, but nobody (with few exceptions) wants to do anything to help those organizing to fight back.

It is stunning to witness such self assured and blissful ignorance. Most of these people are likely harmed by corporate central planning, corporate lobby control and corporate banking control. They have misidentified the common good of the people with the bugaboo of socialism and invented enemies. The world is moving ahead while America is going backwards. So sad.

Interesting, but not surprising. It's like we're all on a plane that falling through the sky and the most insistent group wants to organize a team to go out there and wind back up the rubber band.
