Veterans For Peace (VFP) had planned a sit-in at Rep. Conyers office before he agreed to a meeting. VFP presented 22,000 signatures to Rep. Conyers, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee. Coincidentally, Congress referred the 35 articles of impeachment that Rep. Kucinich introduced on Monday to the House Judiciary Committee. Rep. Conyers has not stated any plans to move forward with impeachment. Comments from Registered Members | (Register or log in to make your comment.) | kaijansen78 2008-06-22
One more very short thought: to achieve anything on this planet, I have only recently learnt not to be ANTI-anything, but extremely PRO-something else. This
works, and it works far better than an ANTI-approach
because you give not a thought, and therefore no energy, to 'the opposition'. Makes sense?!
Please, all you American campaigners, think about it and get totally positive in your approach 'without an inkling of negative thinking'... excuse the poetry. You see, all I have gathered in 56 years of existence is that what you positively IMAGINE and ASK for, comes to pass if you truly BELIEVE. We don't know how but it just does... so relax and have fun picturing the best future we can make! | kaijansen78 2008-06-22
I LOVE Dennis and I am British!!! A member of our
parliament made a similar move on Tony Blair, to no
avail as he is no longer the Prime Minister.
I want to see them ALL, and we know who THEY are, TRIED FOR WAR CRIMES!! Blow impeachment. After his term in office, the Bush-baby will go scot-free! What are you all gonna do then!!!??? Because Obama is NOT going to change your foreign policy! You can hear it in his latest speeches, and god fobid you get McCain. Like his potato-chip namesake, he is totally false, and worse than stupid! Unbelievable prospect post-Bush! Think Post-Bush folks and get a grip on that... | roeVETforPeaceNOW 2008-06-14
There was a term used by the Narrator he said, "Iraq Veterans for Peace", we are Veterans for Peace, there is also Iraq Veterans Against War, Adam Kokesh, a member of IVAW was there supporting us that day. We spoke with Dennis [Kucinich] later on and he told us he would wait 30 days for a response if there was no response he would reintroduce but this time with 60 Articles, and he refuses to stop. I love Dennis, a true oxymoron: an HONEST POLITICIAN. |
TranscriptMATTHEW PALEVSKY, JOURNALIST, TRNN (VOICEOVER): On Monday, Congressman Kucinich introduced 35 articles of impeachment for President Bush. Those articles, in an overwhelming vote, were referred to the House Judiciary Committee. On Wednesday, Iraq Veterans for Peace held a press conference on Capitol Hill, introducing 22,000 signatures calling for the impeachment of President Bush.
MIKE FERNER: Veterans for Peace is for impeachment, because we have sworn to defend from all enemies, foreign and domestic, a constitution that declares in the very first line that we the people are the source of all political power and authority in this nation, not a tyranny of corporate chieftains and their subordinates in government. Veterans For Peace is for impeachment because it breaks our hearts to know how many innocent families here and in Iraq have suffered when an insulated, criminal administration of privileged elites violates US law, such as the War Crimes Act of 1996, and legally binding international standards, such as the Geneva Conventions, UN Charter, and the Nuremberg Principles. Veterans For Peace is for impeachment because it is the law.
PALEVSKY: After Veterans For Peace initially threatened a sit-in, Congressman Conyers agreed to meet with the organization, where they presented him with their gathered signatures. Chairman Conyers said he was not yet certain how he would proceed with the impeachment articles that had been referred to his committee. With little to say, Conyers invited Veterans for Peace to meet with him again next month.
MICHAEL MARCEAU: The dates that we just got were after July 4, which is almost another month out. So we're just afraid that it's going to turn into another Washington two-step, as it is, where they just kind of keep on avoiding these decisions and avoiding taking the necessary action.
